HVAC Installers
Our install crews start arriving to the office around 6:30 to load up their vehicles and prep for the jobs. They’ve already had a chance to review the job a week before so they know what the job entails and what they will need to make to process as efficient as possible. They all work together to help each get ready for the day. Once loaded, the crews head out to the jobs for the day. Our jobs can range anywhere from one day to several day projects so our technicians are trained how to install a wide variety of equipment. We install everything from heat pumps to boilers, from generators to geothermal to air conditioning and much more. We have an install manager and a field supervisor available to help with challenging projects or if any of our crews get stuck on something. We believe that our techs perform best when they know they have support available and are not left alone to get their work done.
HVAC Service Technicians
The service techs come in to the office between 7:00 and 7:30 to grab any parts they need and check in with the dispatcher. Our work orders are fully digital so there is not actually a requirement to stop in at the office so some will head straight to the first job, but they appreciate seeing and collaborating with the team. It is an opportunity for our younger techs to ask questions about calls they are going to that day and build a team atmosphere. The techs have each others back and are often collaborating through out the day with questions and sharpening each others skills as they bounce ideas back and forth. These techs are kept busy year round with about 4-6 calls per day. We also have a policy where our techs get a ½ day after taking on call, because we know that work life balance is a must. Our service manager is available for backup support or questions that arise, even if it is a question encountered on call. We never wany anyone to feel alone, because we believe we are better together. The sense of camaraderie at Homestead is unmatched.
Plumbers
Our plumbing staff can get exposure to the full range from plumbing service to new house construction to water treatment and well work. We encourage our plumbers to learn the diversity to build their skills but then naturally they gravitate towards their preferred work while still being multitalented and available to pick up other jobs as workload requires. We believe that employees will thrive when they are doing the work they want to do.
Oil Delivery Drivers
The oil delivery staff which ramps up in the fall gets in and on the road early in the morning to go out and get their stops done. Our system is fully digital, so they grab a tablet and jump in a truck to head out on their route. Since we are digital, most of the stops we email the ticket to save the driver a trip back to the house after the delivery. They love this increased efficiency and reduced physical effort needed. We like to keep a new and clean fleet with several trucks purchased in 2021 or later. Our oil delivery manager is always available for questions or to resolve situations that the driver doesn’t feel comfortable making the delivery. We have a no whistle no fill policy because we’d rather not make a delivery than risk a spill.
HES Audits and Insulation Technicians
Our HES audit crews are going out to jobs where they will get to the home, perform a walk around, and then get started with the audit. This involves setting up the blower door, checking the leakage of the home, and then air sealing and offering other energy measures where applicable. Our techs have the opportunity to sell insulation while in the home and also to set the customer up with and HVAC sales person if they are interested in an upgrade. They typically perform two audits per day that could be anywhere around the state. The insulation crew loads up in the morning to get ready for the job and then heads out to get started. They can be doing any number of jobs from blown in insulation in an attic or walls to fiberglass in a basement ceiling. They do what it takes to get our customers energy bills down and they love to make the customers happy.
Office Staff
We have several positions in the office from CSR’s to dispatchers to managers. Everyone knows that the culture here at Homestead is one where we know we can do right by the customer, and our goal is to make them happy. It’s great to see our staff enjoying working together and supporting each other through out the day. From helping out with dispatch, to taking on little projects, we all work together to keep the phones answered and keep the field staff doing what they do best.
