Homestead Comfort Charitable Giving

Homestead Comfort Charitable Giving Guidelines

Since 1989, community support has been part of who we are. These guidelines help us stay focused, fair, and consistent in how we give.

1. Purpose

Homestead Comfort receives many charitable requests each year. To make sure our giving has real impact, we prioritize organizations and events that directly support the communities where our team lives and works. These guidelines define what we support, what we do not, and how decisions are made.

2. Core Giving Philosophy

Our charitable giving focuses on local impact, community wellness, and continuity in the towns we serve. We invest in causes that strengthen health, stability, and connection within our immediate service area.

3. Primary Giving Categories

A. Local Schools & Community Events (Primary Focus)

We support:Direct Giving to Public school programs in our home community

• Local events that promote health, wellness, or community engagement
• Youth programs, town events, and community-building activities

B. Legacy Community Support (Primary Focus)

When Homestead Comfort acquires a business, we continue supporting the charitable commitments historically tied to that company.

This honors long-standing local relationships and maintains trust within those communities. Examples include:

•  Continuing charitable support tied to Imperial Oil in South Windsor
• Annual contributions to legacy events or organizations associated with acquired companies

C. Ending Hunger in Our Region (Regional Focus Area #1)

We support organizations working to reduce food insecurity within a tight geographic radius around our service area.

•Local food banks and pantries

Hunger‑relief programs serving North Central Connecticut

•Community organizations providing direct food assistance

D. Addiction Services & Recovery Support (Regional Focus Area #2)

A secondary but meaningful focus area.  We support:

• Local nonprofits providing addiction treatment, counseling, or recovery support
• Programs directly serving families and individuals within our immediate region
• This category is smaller in scope but aligned with community needs.

4. Giving Priorities Summary

When evaluating requests, we prioritize those that:

  1. Serve our local towns and the surrounding region
  2. Support community health, wellness, education, or connection
  3. Are tied to legacy commitments from acquired companies
  4. Provide direct, tangible benefit to residents
  5. Align with our main focus areas:
    • Local schools & community events
    • Ending hunger
    • Addiction services

5. Requests We Typically Do Not Support

To remain focused, we generally do not contribute to:

  • Organizations outside our geographic area
  • National charities without a direct local impact
  • Political campaigns or causes
  • Religious organizations unless the program serves the broader community (e.g., food pantry)
  • Individual fundraisers or personal GoFundMe requests
  • Events or sponsorships that don’t align with our giving categories

6. Decision & Approval Process

  1. Requests must be submitted in writing (email or form).
  2. Each request is evaluated based on:
    • Alignment with our giving categories
    • Local/community impact
    • Available budget
  3. Final approval is made by our leadership team. If we are unable to support a request, we will respond politely and consistently using these guidelines as the explanation.

Annual Giving Budget & Planning - Homestead Comfort sets an annual charitable giving budget. Funds are allocated across the focus areas above to ensure predictable and consistent support throughout the year.

“Thank you for thinking of Homestead Comfort. We focus our charitable giving on local schools, community wellness events, hunger‑relief programs, addiction‑recovery services, and legacy commitments in the towns we serve. While we can’t support every request, we wish you success with your event.”
